Diseases caused by poor nutrition in cats
Pet foods are generally given to both dogs and cats and lack of nutrients in pet foods affects both the dogs as well as cats. The pet foods available can be classified as dry foods and wet foods. Wet foods contain heavily processed overcooked meats which will be of low quality and the meat is also taken from animals that are injected with hormones. Hence they make it unclean and pet food quality is degraded. Consuming this will lead to diarrhea and skin diseases.
Cats are generally less likely to be domesticated than their canine counterparts. Generally cats feed on raw animal meat which may be harmful to them. Even domesticated cats try to live independently and don’t depend only on the food given by its owners. It searches for its own food and eats it. As a pet owner one must make sure that the cat gets nutrients correctly and lives a long life.
Dry cat foods are convenient and inexpensive but it may lead you to spend more for the maintenance of your cat’s health. Dry cat food contains lots of grains and fillers that are considered healthy. A general error that all humans make is to think of giving the same dog food for cats also. Dietary needs of a cat vary significantly and cats can’t rely only on food like grains and fillers for its existence. Allergies in cats.
There are mainly six diseases that are associated with dry cat food. The first one is cancer. Intestinal and stomach cancer affects cats that has dry food as part of its diet. The processing of the grains creates toxins like acryl amide that cause various types of cancer. Second is the Digestive problems that include Chronic diarrhea, vomiting. These are all caused to poor nutrition in the dry cat food. Vomiting and diarrhea are ways to eliminate unhealthy foods quickly .The dry cat food will poison the cat’s body and it reacts by trying to get the poisons out. Third one is Obesity. This occurs due to accumulation of excess fats. There are too may fats and carbohydrates in the pet foods that come now resulting in excess weight which will lead to heart problems and many chronic illnesses. In case the cat is overweight, we need to serve the cat with canned food which will help it to get nutritious food.
Fourth is the Kidney disease in cats. Domestic cats don’t get enough moisture from the dry food. So cats get dehydrated. Hence kidney stones and kidney diseases get developed.
Fifth is the Urinary tract disease. This is closely related to the kidney disease. Lack of moisture develops this disorder. Feeding the cat canned food can help avoid this disorder.
Sixth one is the dangerous Diabetes. High carbohydrates cause diabetes. Even low carbohydrates food is risky for cats. Dry foods require starch to make it dry and hence carbohydrates food will make the food high on starch content. So the cat gets only large amounts of sugar every time it has dry food.
So one has to make sure that dry cat foods are not given in excess amounts to make sure that the cat lives well.
