Dog Acne is a common skin disorder associated with teenagers. This affliction has been thought to be caused by eating too much chocolate, so many people are under the misconception that since dogs do not eat chocolate, they must be unable to get acne. However, research has shown that dog pimples actually has nothing to do with chocolate. Rather, it is caused by hormonal imbalances in the body. Genetic relation is also a likely contributing factor that causes this condition.
Dogs who suffer from acne usually feature a development of pimples on the chin. The dog pimples develop on the lips and chins of young dogs. Some breeds are generally known to be more vulnerable to dog acne than others. The major breeds included are bulldogs, Great Danes, Rottweilers and Doberman Pinschers. Dogs are more vulnerable to dog acne at the age of five to six months. This is the period in which they cross from adolescence to adulthood.
There are some conditions which are possible to cure in dogs, and chronic dog acne is one of them. Dog acne causes blackheads on the skin, mouth and chin. The hair on the skin may sometimes start to fall off, since the condition dries the skin until it is no longer capable of supporting healthy hair growth. In some circumstances, acne is accompanied by dog pimples that develop on the skin. They appear as red bumps. These bumps itch, making the dog very uncomfortable. The pimples and blackheads are not much of an issue to the dog, though if they become infected, they will start causing discomfort. Scratching can cause the skin to break, allowing the dog to contract any number of infections.
It is difficult to cure dog acne completely, though there are some measures that can be taken to reduce its effects. Dog owners should look for a qualified veterinarian when they find any of the alarming symptoms.
Purchasing over-the-counter drugs or other treatment procedures may not be the best idea. There are several diseases featuring symptoms similar to those of dog acne. A qualified veterinarian will be capable of determining the exact kind of disease that is affecting your dog and prescribe the correct treatments. The veterinarian can also identify possible problems that trigger the development of complexities such as allergies, and advise you accordingly.
It is essential for the owner to clean the dog frequently, using anti dog acne shampoos. The shampoos will help keep the pores clean, avoiding secondary infections caused by microorganisms. In the case that a serious infection erupts such as dog pimples, or more severe dog pimples develop, look for antibacterial medications that can control the condition’s effect on your dog.

dogs do indeed get pimples and acne just like we do. There are various treatment options to clear up the skin but be sure to use something made just for pets or else you may cause skin damage
