Whenever you give fish oils to dogs, you must also add vitmain E. Most quality fish oil that is specifically formulated for dogs inlcudes the vitmain E in the capsules. However, if you are feeding the actual wild salmon canned or baked salmon fillets with egg shell added to balance the calcium to phosphorus ration at 1/2 teaspoon per pound of fish/meat, then you don't need the vitmain E. The salmon has the natural nutrients to prevent oxidation. I use LifeSpan Salmon Oil

I have a 7 year old yorkie who has major allergies we have him on holistic food and treats and just recently started giving him salmon oil to help moisten his skin. They seem to be making him itch even more. Is this common for dogs with allergies to itch like crazy at first? Or should i take him off the capsules immediately?

Oatmeal is one ingredient, and it is a good one, especially for providing a skin calming effect. I am concerned about other products, however. If an oatmeal based shampoo also has salts and other drying ingredients, would not that negate the positive effects of the oatmeal?

Hi, another great Christmas present for dogs is a day at the groomers. Almost like a spa day for humans; only for dogs! We do it every year for our 2 poodles and they love it. Not only do they love it but we do as well. There is nothing better than having nice smelling and clean dogs in the house, especially in the winter time.

In fact we now are using your Hydraplex shampoo and actually giving it to our groomer to use in the winter time. It does a nice job keeping the skin from drying and and flaking. Our groomer told us that the spearmint oil and peppermint oils in the shampoo are great in the winter time to protect the skin - do you think this is the case or is it more the aloe vera and oatmeal? Regardless we love it and it works great.

Oh, another good thing for pet presents is something you do not even need to buy. It is taking your dogs on regular walks everyday. Remember they are just like us and will get cabin fever quickly if the do not get enough exercise and time outside. In fact I am convinced that my dogs behave so much better when we are able to walk them every day and spend time with them. I guess that if they do not get a good long dog walk they fell frustrated and rebel by being bad dogs, alot like kids I guess!

If you can not walk them yourself you can always hire a local kid, or even a professional dog walker to take them on regular dog walks daily. Trust me if you start doing this your dogs will love you for it. Thanks Evolutionpets and have a great holiday season if I don't "chat" again this year!
