Wht Enzymes for Dogs are so imporant

If you have wondered how important enzymes can be in the overall body functioning of a dog, then you need to know that enzymes are what help a living body to perform various activities from digesting the food to making the smallest movements. Hence, enzymes are as vital for dogs as for any other living organism. So, if your dog’s coat is becoming dull or if it is showing symptoms of mal-digestion even after eating properly, or even if its performance is not what it once used to be, then you can be sure that the dog enzymes inside its body are not working properly.

One of the most common enzyme related problems faced by dogs is related to dog digestion.

The digestive enzymes for dogs help them to digest their food by breaking down proteins, starches and fats into small fractions so that they can be absorbed by the intestines. Most of these enzymes are produced by the pancreas of the dog. However, if these enzymes do not perform their functions as per requirements, most of the diet taken in by the dog, remains undigested. This makes most of what they eat go right through the intestines and then ends up in their feces, without contributing to the proper nutrition from the digestive functions.

Although, this disease that is caused by the malfunctioning of dog enzymes, mostly affects dog of superior breeds, it is not uncommon among dogs of other breeds that can also be affected by the disease at any age. What is worse is that most dog owners are unable to recognize the symptoms of this disease in the earlier stages itself and by the time they discover what is ailing their pet, almost 90% of the pancreas has already been damaged.

Although, no fixed reason has been singled out for causing this problem in the digestive enzymes for dogs, it has generally been found that in most cases the ailment is initiated by an inflammation of the pancreas.

  • Dog owners need to keep their eyes open for any of the following symptoms to prevent the pancreas of their dogs from getting damaged due to bad functionality of dog enzymes.
  • • Considerable loss of body weight through both fat loss as well as muscle loss.
  • • A very watery dog diarrhea, which is light yellow or clayish in color.
  • • Undigested food is excreted by the dog in large amounts, depending on the dog’s diet.
  • • The dog acts as if it is famished and might resort to eating everything and anything including grass and dirt.

After knowing the symptoms, it would be beneficial to know how to rectify the dog enzymes. Treatments are available for this condition in the form of tablets that replace the enzymes of the dog and are given to the dog before a meal. However, the sad part is that they come at a very high price, and the dog of yours has to remain on medication for the rest of its life.
