ANTIOXIDANTS ARE GOOD FOR DOGS.
The importance of antioxidants in our lives is perfectly known to everyone. But did you ever imagine that they are beneficial for dogs and pets around us as well. If you own a dog then may be you have a vague idea of the advantages antioxidants provide a Dog. But the question that might be striking your mind is why do dogs need antioxidants? For a brief knowledge antioxidants are the compounds or very essential nutrients which we absorb through our food. Food substances are the source of antioxidants in our body and similar is the case with dogs. The basic functioning of antioxidants in our body involves inhibition of body damage by oxidation.
The basic functioning in scientific terms is now clear to you and you also know its benefits for human race. But why are they important for dogs? Since dogs and humans share same environmental conditions thus when we suffer body damage from extremely noxious free radicals then similarly dogs also undergo body damage from free radicals. The following reasons will explain you in detail why antioxidants are useful for dogs.
- Free radicals are present in the environment. These detrimental substances have severe effects on the immune system. Immune system slowly becomes very week and thus body becomes very prone to diseases. Thus to protect dogs from many diseases they should be fed with antioxidants.
- There are some antioxidants that are indispensable for good health like vitamin E, A, C, milk and selenium. For any species on earth these antioxidants are inevitable because they are the sole nutrients responsible for good health. But dogs and other pets do not receive these antioxidants through the food they eat. Thus for dogs food containing these antioxidants are very useful for maintaining good health.
- As dogs do not get these antioxidants naturally therefore supplements containing these antioxidants is the only way to compensate the natural loss.
- For a dog vitamin E is essentially important. This vitamin functions in enhancing RBC protection, circulation of blood and nutrients for the body. This Vitamin is also an antioxidant thus explains the importance of antioxidants in a dog’s body.
- For reducing the risk of dryness and dermatitis in your dog selenium is very important. This antioxidant enhances the skin’s quality.
- Vitamin C is the antioxidant that functions in the collagen production. Cartilage, Bones and teeth are made up of collagen.
These benefits which are very essential for dogs cannot be met without providing them antioxidants through food and other supplements. Almost all dogs are deficient of this essential antioxidant except a few privileged ones. Many dog foods which are available in market boost of containing such essential antioxidants but off course they never supply these to the dog’s body. There are very less dog foods which supply them completely to the dog this is why antioxidants supplements are very essential to maintain a dog’s good health. These antioxidants are thus as useful to dogs as they are to any of us.
