Poor Nutrition in Dogs will lead to many health issues

There are many types of Dog Foods available on the market today.   While mass marketing and creative packaging may lead us to think that the “well known” foods meet all of our pets nutritional needs, the truth is that most dog foods do not.   We suggest providing your pet with dog supplements. In fact, most dog foods offer incomplete nutritional and marginal value - eventually leading to a host of medical problems for our dogs.  As owners we need to be responsible pet owners and provide our loved ones with food that has good nutritional value.  Foods that contain poor nutritional value will most likely cause major diseases over time, such as cancer, arthritis, allergies, or circulation problems.  Poor quality dog food can also lead to an early death.  So the proper selection of food is of fundamental importance.  In fact, the main reason for the dogs becoming sick is due to lack of poor nutritional significant foods.  The good news is that those nutritional needs for a sick dog will not vary much as that of a healthy dog and can be supplemented to help a dog back to proper nutrition.  

Many dog foods lack the needed nutrients, in fact if you compare the different types you will see the wide range of lacking nutrients.    As a result, providing the same poor dog food over and over means your dog is being deprived of basic nutrients; often unknown to the owner.  Because of this constant deficiency, chances are good that your dog will develop some sickness, disorder, or health problem.  Once a dog becomes sick, maintaining a healthy lifestyle becomes compromised.   So we strongly suggest that before selecting a dog food, be sure to check with veterinary doctor to make sure that the food contains the necessary nutrients. Also, poor balancing of nutrients, such as excessive amounts of a particular nutrient can lead to serious health issues.   For example the Yeast Candida Disorder is prevalent in dogs because of excess yeast that the dogs are fed on a regular basis.  Yeast toxins affect the immune system, bone quality, nervous system, and the endocrine system of dogs.  It will, in time, lead to bloating, constipation, diarrhea, and may even lead to cancer.  If your dog is experieicning sysmptoms of yeast toxins, you should cosnultant your vet immediatley as more serious conditions can occur rather quickly.

A lack of the main and primary nutrients like carbohydrates, vitamins, proteins will also lead to a host of diseases. Generally vitamin and mineral deficiencies are rarely seen to contribute to any major diseases. Vitamins and minerals are inexpensive and are generally found in the vast majority of all brands dog foods.  However, due to government regulations, the number of food products that contain proper and needed fats for dogs keeps on decreasing. This is a problem because heart disease in dogs occurs due to lack of proper quality fat. This may also cause sluggishness, weight loss, dry skin, poor fur quality, or dull hair coat.  The fatty acids which are essential also play a role in dog’s health when it is deficient.   When fatty acids become deficient they will cause many symptoms such as itchy skin, hair loss, loss of weight and erosion in the skin.  They are likely to cause serious and lasting danger to the bones of the dogs and may lead to pain in walking as a result of foot disease.   Omega 3 Fatty Acid supplements can help this.

Deficiency of protein may also lead to poor health, weight loss, dull coat, and itchy skin.  They may also produce anemia, reduce the ability of the body to protect against infections and if left neglected may also lead to the dog’s death. Hence some nutrients aid in the cure of certain diseases.

Some diseases are also caused due to use of preservatives in the dog’s food. For example, the flavoring agent ethoxyquin has been added in dog’s food.   This agent can poison a dog over a long period of time and therefore should not be used.

Many diseases caused in dogs are due to the lack of information and indirect neglect of the owner.   These pet owners may use low quality, or mass produced pet food and give it to their family dogs thinking they are providing all the needed nutrients.   We suggest that all pet owners understand nutrients as best they can and check with a vet as to what food to feed their loved ones!
