Why Oatmeal Shampoo Is Beneficial For Your Dog? As a pet owner it is very frustrating to see dandruff and flaking on your dog. Personally it would drive me crazy when I would wash our dogs with what I was hoping was a good moisturizing best oatmeal dog shampoo or a canine dandruff shampoo only to see flaking on my dog soon after. As we started to explore the differences between dog. human skin & hair, I discovered that the differences in ph levels causes moisturizing agents to act differently. In fact some of the best moisturizing nutrients for humans do not work so well for dogs; in fact may even have negative results. To explain a bit further, we first have to realize that dogs have so many natural oils on their coats that work their way in their skin to keep it healthy. If a typical moisturizing shampoo that is used in human products is applied to a dog it may actually block or clog the dogs natural oils – the result is dog dry itchy skin.
Taking a bit further almost all shampoo for dogs is formulated off of human shampoo ; take a look at the labels to see for yourself. After much research and product development a few important things we found out. First, water based shampoo is not good on dogs because it dries out dog’s skin way too much. However when dog shampoo is made with Aloe Vera as its sole base, we found that the dogs coat became very clean and there was no “drying out”. In fact the skin and coats became quite moisturized and healthy. Adding to this adding oatmeal greatly helped cleanse away dirt and smell with damaging the natural oil production. Evolution Pet Supply started making many different versions of Oatmeal Dog Shampoo and the results have been amazing. While there are many dog shampoos that have oatmeal in them, the only one that uses Aloe Vera as its base, and contains no water is from Evolution Supply.
The issue with the water is that it reacts opposite as the water and results in a poor outcome. To prove it we washed dogs with many type of Oatmeal Dog Shampoos and had very consistent results proving that water based shampoo causes a poor ph balance with dogs and produces inferior results. Aloe Vera used as the base for dog shampoos provides a wonderful balance for dogs. Aloe Vera also makes for a wonderful Puppy Shampoo. Our conclusion was obvious that a Dog Shampoo with Oatmeal, with an Aloe Vera base will make a dog’s skin and coat very healthy and shinny looking without any flaking or dandruff. Be careful when looking on labels as simply having Aloe Vera in the shampoo is very different than having no water and Aloe Vera as the base. This also holds true for the so called medicated dandruff dog shampoo.
