When hair is brushed or combed, dead skin starts shedding off and this is known as dandruff. This causes itching and rapid hair fall. A humidifier helps in regulating moisture in the air and thereby prevents the cat’s skin from getting dry in too hot or too cold weather. Do not let your cat stay near the fireplace, which makes the skin dry faster. Treatment of lice and other parasitic mites should be done on a regular basis to avoid harmful reaction to the skin.

Use a moisturised shampoo especially for cats while bathing your cat to keep the cat’s skin clean and healthy. Your cat may be sensitive even to the new carpet in your room. Therefore, any kind of environmental changes can affect the cat resulting in cat’s dry skin. Grooming of the cat is necessary now and again. A good brushing daily serves the purpose. Last but not the least, a good quality diet including fish oil and a good amount of moisture in cat food takes good care of our feline friends and help to reduce cat dandruff as well.
